HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) Systems

HVAC systems are crucial to the regulation of temperature, ventilation and cooling in residential or commercial areas. They are essential for keeping environments safe and comfortable, especially in Ontario's scorching summers.

Heat

A system that regulates airflow, temperature, ventilation, and air conditioning. The air filters are responsible for maintaining the comfort of occupants by removing pollutants such as toxins, fumes, and pollutants.

These systems can be centralised or decentralised and operate through a network of ductwork and pipes to circulate air throughout the building. In some systems, air is drawn in from outside and circulated through an filtering unit. In other systems it is heated or chilled in a central plant before being circulated throughout the building.

The HVAC department has the responsibility of maintaining, repairing, and upgrading all heating and ventilation systems on campus. In addition, they provide technical support for equipment such as Johnson Controls Building Automation System.

As part of the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning program at Waubonsee, students participate in a broad, hands-on program that includes labs to assist them in understanding the way in which lecture material is used in real-world situations. Students can also choose elective classes like industrial controls and wiring to help them develop the skills needed when they start working on their equipment.

Students who earn the two-year Associate Degree in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning or one of the professional certifications are qualified to work as installers technicians, or building maintenance craftsmen. They can also pursue a Bachelor’s degree.

Despite the fact that a lot of people assume the term "HVAC" stands for just "air conditioning," it actually refers to a complete system that's used to regulate and monitor conditions such as humidity, temperature and air quality, the supply of outside fresh air to control carbon dioxide and oxygen levels as well as draught or movement ventilation. HVAC is only effective when it combines these components. It is true for any application, from residential homes to industrial buildings like power plants, office buildings, and ocean vessels. Ventilation

The second type of ventilation used is mechanical. This is done by an air-handling unit (commonly called an HRV, or heat recovery ventilator), which filters and warms incoming air prior to distributing it in a home through ductwork. The system can also reduce humidity and regulate temperatures in the entire house.

Modern buildings combinemechanical ventilation with natural ventilation. The HRV provides the most efficient method of ventilation in buildings. It ensures that stale indoor air is continuously exchanged with fresh air.

Ventilation is crucial for a variety of reasons that include eliminating odors and moisture from the home, as well as getting rid of pollutants such as VOCs (volatile organic compounds) which are released by certain household cleaning products, paints, and pesticides. The chemicals in the home can cause problems if they are not ventilated properly.

Only an associate degree can lead to a career as a HVAC technician. This degree prepares you for a career in technical expertise, as an installer technician, building maintenance craftsman or service technician. You can also pursue Bachelor's degrees in HVAC Engineering.

This program will give you the foundation for a four-year bachelor's in HVAC engineering. You may work for a HVAC or Refrigeration Contractor or Energy Company, or in the HVAC Department of large corporations.
